Caregiver Group: The Go-to Online Healthcare Platform for Careseekers and Caregivers

CIO VendorYeo Wan Ling, CEO & Co-founder
Robert Yu is the CTO of Caregiver Group, and he is a start-up veteran, techie, all-round nice guy and the person everyone turns to for ideas and creative solutions. If you ask him, where the greatest start-up ideas spring from, he would say that the best are born out of great pain and necessity. In Caregiver Group’s case, their business idea was born from the need to receive im-mediate caregiving relief in the face of medical emergencies. 3 years ago, the founder of Caregiver Group faced the mammoth task of looking for home nurses for her grandmother after she was discharged from the ICU. She thought that there should be an easier way to get in touch with Caregivers for the home and the idea of www.caregiverasia.com was born.

Fast forward to 2017, the platform is now an award-winning online marketplace that connects Careseekers with professional freelance Caregivers and healthcare practitioners. “The primary issue while searching for Caregivers is time, cost, and availability; particularly if faced with an un-planned caregiving situation. Our online platform focuses on transparency and trust. It brings together experienced and certified Caregivers in one place and allows Careseekers to compare their services to evaluate which options are best for them,” says Robert. He elaborated that Careseekers can compare price, the experience of the Caregiver, previous reviews, track records, location, and availability before booking the Caregiver online.

The website works primarily with freelance Caregivers and independent healthcare professionals like nurses, physicians, physiotherapists, nutritionists and counselors. By allowing Caregivers to work completely on their own terms, including stating their own fees, hours of work and schedule availability, the platform has been particularly successful in attracting trained retired or inactive Caregivers to return back to the workforce.

With a US patent pending real-time calendaring system, and a built-in payment gateway, the platform helps Caregivers manage their own free-lancing business, leaving them more time to do what they are passionate about – which is caregiving.

What does the future hold for Caregiver Group? According to Robert, the vision is clear as well as bold, “We intend to become the foremost platform for Careseekers and Caregivers in the world.” Besides www.caregiverasia.com, which serves the Asia-Pacific region, the group has launched www.bookacare.com, which is tailored to the American market and is the only medical insurance compliant caregiver website in the U.S. market today. There are currently more than 800 Caregivers offering more than 760 hours of care in a day on the Singapore site, and more than 1,500,000 Caregivers in the U.S. database.

Caregiver Group’s technology focus is always on how to improve the user experience. “We are constantly monitoring, analyzing and taking feedback from users. We apply technology solutions when it makes the process easier for the user,” says Robert. The CTO is also enthusiastic about implementing new technology. “We are presently experimenting with Natural Language Processing (NLP). NLP is going to bring tremendous change in user interaction, especially when you are dealing with convalescents, patients and invalids. I am excited about the work carried out by Amazon, Alexa and Google in this field. With a fast expanding global footprint, and a bold technology roadmap, the future is bright for The Caregiver Group,” adds Robert.

The Caregiver Group is recognized for its innovation and successful achievements over the years. It has a U.S. patent pending status for its real-time calendaring system; was a finalist in the 3rd Eldercare Innovation Awards in 2015 for the “Best Product to Support Ageing-in-Place”; and was the only start-up to be placed in the Elite Brand Category for the 2015/2016 Singapore Successful Brand Awards.
