Cardiotrack: Ushering in Digitization into the Healthcare Industry

CIO VendorAshim Roy, Co-founder & CEO
The healthcare industry has made massive strides in the past few years owing to the advent of digital health technologies. However, new age medical diagnostics tools provided by global leaders are designed for the needs for large hospitals and clinics, often too expensive and require significant amount of training thus, making them unsuitable for primary care physicians. Lack of proper diagnostics tools often creates a situation where physicians have to rely on incomplete information to diagnose patients. The problem becomes acute in semi-urban areas of the Asian sub-continent, where the lack of diagnostics capabilities at primary care centers and limited transportation infrastructure results in lack of accessibility of proper healthcare for people living in such areas. Having identified these challenges faced by the healthcare industry, Ashim Roy and Avin Agarwal, two technology enthusiasts embarked on a mission to digitize healthcare and developed Cardiotrack- a disruptive diagnostic platform. “In our conversations with various medical research centers, the recurring point of concern was always the affordability and usability of diagnostic devices and need to provide prognosis at the early stages of onset of chronic illness. We are simplifying this process through our flagship product, Cardiotrack,” says Ashim Roy, CEO & Co-founder. The Singapore headquartered company’s focus is to usher in a technology revolution in the healthcare sector through its innovative diagnostic and intervention platform. The company employs highly evolved technology in medical electronics, data analytics, cloud storage and diagnostics workflow management.

“We build tech soft equipment that can fulfill all the basic requirements of a primary care clinic,” says Ashim Roy. Using Cardiotrack, doctors can detect heart health problems accurately, consult specialists, refer and track patients, maintain medical history and start the intervention process.

Cardiotrack platform includes multi-parameter, light weight healthcare IoT devices and mobile health software

“Cardiotrack platform includes multi-parameter, light weight healthcare IoT devices and mobile health software, that helps to screen illnesses such as cardiovascular diseases and hypertension and helps doctors to perform diagnosis and then safely store the patients’ records,” explains Ashim. Cardiotrack solution has four major components: Cardiotrack Oxygen sensor, which provides complete 12-channel diagnostic grade ECG integrated with sensors to monitor blood oxygen saturation and blood pressure; Cardiotrack MobileApp, which displays, analyzes and stores the patients’ diagnostic reports; Cardiotrack Cloud Service, which provides a secure storage of patient records on a private cloud; and Cardiotrack Intervention, which is a tele-intervention platform and allows the physician to connect with specialists and hospitals to initiate intervention.

Cardiotrack was launched in September 2015 and has since then deployed over 200 of these devices across India, Myanmar, Indonesia, Mexico and the U.S.. The major reason for Cardiotrack to attain the traction in the market has been affordability, ease of use and mobility that the product renders to its users. “Most of the expensive health diagnostics products can only be operated in hospital environments, which are air-conditioned. However, working environment at the primary care facilities in the developing economies is different. We have built the diagnostics sensors such that these could function at extreme temperatures, and dust ridden and humid environments. Cardiotrack tele-intervention platform is built to overcome limited availability of specialists, lack of transportation infrastructure and power breakdowns that are common constraints in emerging economies and provide effortless remote patient management and disease care,” explains Ashim. The company also keeps in mind the different regulatory needs of different countries and is thus, focused on building products with a global perspective in mind.

Cardiotrack team has recently started collaboration with an American organization to co-develop a new product using the Cardiotrack platform that is designed for global markets. Rearing to go, the Cardiotrack team is working towards redefining the healthcare industry and making quality healthcare accessible for everyone.
